Sustainability at the Sydney Royal Easter Show

As Australia’s largest, annual ticketed agriculture and entertainment event, sustainability in both farming practices and in event-hosting are key deliverable priorities.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show has been held at Sydney Showground in Sydney Olympic Park since 1998. Hosted by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) in conjunction with the award-winning Sydney Showground venue, events and management team, its impact upon industry and community is indelible.

Sydney Showground is the venue and event management business arm of the RAS, holding over 100 national and international events each year, of which the Sydney Royal Easter Show is its most famous, most beloved event.

What Sydney Showground offers the Show-going community is very special, and it goes beyond just having a good time. Sydney Showground’s Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Initiative, is a key deliverable that we are proud of because sustainability and environmental impacts are core to the ESG initiatives.

And that’s just the beginning!

Did You know?

Real-time impact measurements across the Sydney Royal Easter Show period have shown that carbon emissions dropped by 56 tonnes at the 2022 Sydney Royal Easter Show, and by a further 67 tonnes at the 2023 Sydney Royal Easter Show.

That’s a total of 123 tonnes over two years—the equivalent of charging 14.9 million smartphones. This is the kind of community impact and ESG measures that the Sydney Royal Easter Show is proud to be able to benefit from.
