Sydney Royal Fine Food Show - Aquaculture Judging

Join us at the Sydney Royal Aquaculture Competition, where we celebrate Australia’s commitment to producing safe, sustainable, and high-quality seafood. This unique event, established in 2001, is a must-see for foodies and seafood lovers alike.
Experience the excitement of live judging, the only Sydney Royal Fine Food competition open to the public. Watch as expert judges, including chefs, educators, and industry professionals, assess the finest Sydney Rock Oysters on shape, presentation, texture, colour, freshness, and taste.
Emcee Lyndey Milan OAM will be on hand to interact with the audience, answering your questions about the judging process and the aquaculture industry. You’ll also have the chance to learn from chefs and industry experts who will share their insights and tips on selecting the best oysters at your local market.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, 16th April, during the Sydney Royal Easter Show. This is your opportunity to witness firsthand the meticulous process of judging Sydney Rock Oysters and to deepen your appreciation for Australia’s seafood heritage. Scarecrow Competition

The Scarecrow competition is a crowd favourite, where exhibitors can let their imaginations run wild! More than 2500 years ago Egyptians put scarecrows in their fields to protect wheat crops from hungry quail, today we are putting scarecrows in the Flower & Garden Pavilion to keep an eye on the Great Backyard Pumpkin Challenge.
With 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize ribbons up for grabs you’re guaranteed to be delighted by a field of funny faces and curious creations!

Woodchopping & Sawing Competition
- Ugly Fish Woodchop Stadium
- 11 - 21 April | 9.00am with various events every 10 minutes
The Woodchopping & Sawing competitions at the Sydney Royal Easter Show are thrilling showcases of strength, skill, and precision, drawing competitors from right across Australia and the world. Known as the “Wimbledon of Woodchop,” the Sydney Royal competitions feature various disciplines in woodchopping and sawing, offering something for all spectators.
Among the highlights are 7 World Titles, including the fan-favourite 325mm Tree Felling contest. Blending tradition with intense competition, it is a must-see for showgoers!

Woodchopping & Sawing Competition - Sawing

- 12 - 17 April | 9.00 AM - 6.00 PM, 20 April | 9.00 AM - 6.00 PM with various events every 10 minutes
Gear up for the ultimate test of strength and precision in our exhilarating sawing competition, where competitors must slice clean through a hefty log using a saw, but from just one side!
Watch in awe as the woodchips fly and the saws sing, creating a thrilling spectacle of skill and determination.

Woodchopping & Sawing Competition - Tree Felling
- Ugly Fish Woodchop Stadium
- 14, 16, 18 April | 9.00 AM - 6.00 PM with various events every 10 minutes
In the tree felling competition the competitor chops notches in a tree/log and inserts a board into the cut. The board is then used as a platform in order to cut higher up the tree.
This is done three times in order to get to the top of the tree and cut, before coming back down and starting again on the opposite side – eventually the competitor is back at the top and cutting all the way through so that the top of the tree falls to the ground.

Woodchopping & Sawing Competition - Underhand
- Ugly Fish Woodchop Stadium
- 11 - 21 April | 9.00 AM - 6.00 PM with various events every 10 minutes
Usually the first chop a competitor learns, underhand is when you stand on the log and swing the axe down between your legs – dangerously close to your toes! The competitor chops about halfway on one side before turning and continuing to chop the log from the other side until it splits in two.

Sydney Royal Arts & Crafts Show - Perishable Cooking
- Arts & Crafts Pavilion
- 11 April | 1.00pm
There may be everything from delicious scones to fluffy sponges on display, but competition inside the Arts & Crafts Pavilion is no piece of cake. Exhibitors competing in the baking and cake decorating sections are tasked with achieving perfection based on a strict set of judging guidelines.
This is the only live judging event in Arts & Crafts! Both Exhibitors and Showgoers can listen, learn and be inspired by the judges’ comments as some of the State’s best judges taste, comment and judge. Discover the secrets to a perfect cake, scone, or biscuit, and see who will take out the coveted Most Successful Exhibitor Award in Open and Under 20’s Competitions.

Woodchopping & Sawing Competition - Team/Relay Events

From Jack and Jill (two in a team, one male and one female) to double handed sawing (two competitors, one on each side of the saw, slicing a ring off a log) and relay events whereby team members take turns to cut a log, the woodchop and sawing competition at the Show is always thrilling and all competitors thrive off the motivating cheers of the crowd!

ALPA Young Auctioneers Challenge
- Amphitheatre
- 11 April | 1.00pm - 5.00pm
The Australian Livestock & Property Agents (ALPA) Young Auctioneers Competitions held at the Show include the State and National Finals with finalists auctioning prize-winning Sydney Royal Purebred Steers, aiming to get the best price possible for the vendors whilst also impressing the panel of judges.
Assessed on clarity, diction, manner and livestock value knowledge, the young auctioneers are also vying for the right to represent Australia in the International Livestock Auctioneers Competition at the Calgary Stampede.

Sydney Royal Rabbit Hopping Show
- Pet Pavilion
- 20 April | 9.00am - 5:00pm
The sport of Rabbit Hopping is fairly new to Australia but skyrocketing in popularity! The competition will see bunnies of all breeds and speeds displaying their show jumping skills in a competition guaranteed to delight and impress.
Watch these adorable bunnies showing off their skills and you may just run into the Easter Bunny while you're there.

Sydney Royal Sheep Show: Meat and Dual Purpose

The Meat & Dual Purpose Breeds competition features classes for 13 distinct sheep breeds, along with an additional "Any Other Breed" category. These breeds are valued for their unique characteristics, with some excelling in high-quality fleece production, while others are primarily recognized for their size and growth in meat production.
Each year, the competition highlights a Feature Breed, and for 2025, the White Suffolk has been selected.
