An excursion to the Sydney Royal Easter Show is an amazing opportunity for students and compliments the new syllabus requirements for mandatory agriculture topics from early stage 1 through to stage 5. There are a number of FREE resources to promote agriculture to start students on the paddock to plate and field to fibre journeys. Plus, don't miss out on the accredited Teacher Professional Development session also hosted at the Show.

Schools Excursions
Full of hands-on activities, interactive sessions, competitions and performances, the Show is the perfect opportunity to obtain a snapshot of Australian farming.

School tickets to the Show are available to NSW and ACT public schools, and registered non-government schools. Students must attend as a school group with teacher supervision.
Student Workshops
Attending the Show with your students? Student workshops will be held across Honey and Chocolate and be sure to get your taste buds racing. You can book in for one, or both if you like!
The team from Bowral Bee Company, experienced beekeeper and honey enthusiast, will guide your students through the process of honey production. This experience has been developed to ensure it meets curriculum requirements as they develop proficiency in their practical interactions with and decisions regarding food and a deep understanding of sustainable and ethical practices that support exceptional agricultural experiences.
In this 30 minute workshop, learn how the bees make honey and how different flowers affect the properties of the honey. Apply your new knowledge to judge the quality of our honey samples.

Students will create new connections and gain appreciation of the familiar treat of Chocolate. This new understanding will be put into practice in a fun, engaging context as they explore
The history of cacao, what is chocolate?, the journey from Bean to Bar (Plantation/Factory), regional variations in Chocolate and the crucial awareness of Sustainability and Ethics. This experience has been reviewed to ensure it meets curriculum requirements as they develop proficiency in their practical interactions with and decisions regarding food and a deep understanding of sustainable and ethical practices that support exceptional agricultural experiences.
This experience will be guided by chocolate expert Ms Jodie Van Der Velden who is the founder and creative force of Josophan's, located in Leura of the beautiful Blue Mountains. Josophan’s creates extraordinary fine chocolates, using Fair Trade certified Callebaut Belgian couverture chocolate, Single Origin and Single Plantation chocolates and ganache fillings made with fresh flavour infusions. All of their chocolates contain no preservatives nor artificial flavours, and are simply fresh, naturally flavoured, luxurious chocolates.
Students will also learn firsthand the key skill of how to eat chocolate to get the maximum taste pleasure by engaging their five senses.
Recommended for Stage 4 and 5 students studying Food Technology or Agriculture.

Out of School Hours Program
The Sydney Royal Easter Show offers OOSH Centres a unique and vibrant event that is the perfect excursion for kids of all ages. Bringing the country to the city, industry experts and young farmers will engage your children about “Where our food and fibre comes from!”
Visit the Agricultural Discovery Pavilion on the Animal Walk to learn more about where our food comes from and the latest and greatest technology used on the farm. Enter the Farmyard Nursery and get up close and personal to lots of fluffy, furry and funny animal pals. You can also visit the Dairy Farmers Working Dairy to learn more about how milking cows, farmers and technology work together to get food from the farm gate to you.
Cost: $20 per student and per teacher (GST exempt)
