Sydney Royal Pig Show

The Sydney Royal Pig Competition is one of the largest and most prestigious pig shows in Australia, renowned for its long-standing history and excellence in livestock showcasing. Since its inception at the first Sydney Royal Easter Show in 1858, the pig competition has been a key feature of the event, held nearly every year since. Over the decades, it has evolved to highlight the very best in pig breeding, production, and agricultural practices. In 2017, the competition introduced a new dimension with the launch of a Commercial Competition for Schools, aimed at encouraging the next generation to engage with the agricultural industry. This initiative allows students to get hands-on experience in managing and presenting pigs, fostering a deeper understanding of animal husbandry, farming practices, and the importance of livestock in Australia’s agricultural landscape. The Sydney Royal Pig Competition not only celebrates the achievements of top breeders but also serves as a platform to promote sustainable practices and innovation within the pig farming industry, making it a vital part of the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
