The swing of the axe and the thundering cracks of wood make the Sydney Royal Woodchopping and Sawing Competition a highlight for many Showgoers. The largest competition of its kind in the world, axeman from all across Australia - and international competitors too - have shown their speed, balance and precision at the Show for well over a century.
Woodchopping: More than just a competition which tests speed in cutting through a log of wood with an axe, woodchopping is a sport for men and women and a blockbusting crowd pleaser... take your seat in the purpose built stadium and watch the chips fly!
Sawing: Single-handed or double-handed, technique is every bit as important as fitness and strength in a sawing competition.
Featuring $230,000 in prize money and five World Title Events, the competition is widely recognised as the 'Wimbledon of Woodchopping'.
