Arts and Crafts Competition

Where: Arts & Crafts Pavilion
When: 9am-8.30pm Daily
The Sydney Royal Arts & Crafts Show has judged and awarded the finest in classes including art, sculpture, quilting, knitting, cake decorating and more for 150 years and continues to be the largest arts & crafts competition in Australia.

The Sydney Royal Arts & Crafts Show has judged and awarded the finest in classes including art, sculpture, quilting, knitting, cake decorating and more for 150 years and continues to be the largest arts & crafts competition in Australia. As the competition has evolved it has accepted soft toys, leatherwork, mosaic, woodwork, photography, perishable cooking and this year welcomes millinery with Spring, Winter, Student and Avant Garde classes.
Whilst judging takes place before the Show opens, all award-winners are on display throughout the Show proudly showing their ribbons. However, day one of the Show hosts Perishable Cooking judging from 1pm giving Showgoers the opportunity to listen to the judges and discover the secrets to a perfect cake, scone or biscuit.

Lace lovers, tatting titans, quilling queens and paper people will be drawn to the Arts & Crafts Pavilion for this year's feature display - Paper & Lace. Rapidly developing from the sixteenth century onwards, lace has been used for decoration and adornment around the world.

Lace lovers, tatting titans, quilling queens and paper people will be drawn to the Arts & Crafts Pavilion for this year's feature display - Paper & Lace. Rapidly developing from the sixteenth century onwards, lace has been used for decoration and adornment around the world.  The art of paper filigree, known as quilling, was popular with ladies of leisure in the eighteenth century and has grown today to include young and the young-at-heart all fascinated by the creative world of paper.

Discover the dedication and secrets behind some of your favourite art and craft displays during the Show, with demonstrations every day.

Discover the dedication and secrets behind some of your favourite art and craft displays during the Show, with demonstrations every day. From folk art to millinery, woodwork, leatherwork, cake decorating, calligraphy and all sorts of knitting, this is a fantastic opportunity to observe, learn and ask questions before trying your hand at any of these amazing crafts.
Each day the Arts & Crafts Pavilion will host two Craft Guilds & Associations.
