Stroll along the Animal Walk, and you'll see all the Sydney Royal award-winning animals and farmyard friends. You'll see the sheep first - the flocked fleece that have fed and clothed us since the first Merino arrived in 1797.  A few steps and you'll be saying hello to poultry - chickens, roosters, ducks, geese and even a turkey or two! There are daily opportunities to pat-a-chick and pat-a-chook and chook washing demonstrations as well! You'd be crowing mad to miss these birds.

Keep going along the walk and you'll be as a happy as a pig in the proverbial. Pigs & Goats share a home here and a fondness for dirt and hay and taking it easy all day. The goats will pop their heads up to say hi, but the pigs are quite shy. There's the chance to pat-a-pig but don't hog the opportunity.

Once you've moved along you'll be surrounded by cattle. Cows to the right of you, bulls to the left and calves tucked in with mum. Learn about milking and beef and the temperament of cows. There's over 18,000 litres of milk produced in the Working Dairy during the 14 days of the Show!

Ever wondered what an Alpaca is good for? Sydney Royal winning Alpacas are judged on their strong fleece production. Alpaca fleece is stronger than mohair, finer than cashmere, smoother than silk and softer than cotton. Stop and say hello to these distinctive looking animals.

Moving on, it is time for the Horses! The Sydney Royal Horse Show is the largest of its kind with over 5,500 of the most prestigious horses in Australia and New Zealand. We've long been told that a horse is a horse, of course, and no one can talk to a horse, of course... but these horses don't mind the odd whisper or two. However, they can sleep standing up and lying down so you can't be too sure if they are listening to you!

Ready for cats and dogs now? The Pet Pavilion and the Dog Pavilion have to be your next two stops!
