Education

An excursion to the Sydney Royal Easter Show is an amazing opportunity for students and compliments the new syllabus requirements for mandatory agriculture topics from early stage 1 through to stage 5.  There are a number of FREE resources to promote agriculture to start students on the paddock to plate and field to fibre journeys.  Plus, don't miss out on the accredited Teacher Professional Development session also hosted at the Show.

Schools Excursions

Full of hands-on activities, interactive sessions, competitions and performances, the Show is the perfect opportunity to obtain a snapshot of Australian agriculture.

School tickets to the Show are available to NSW and ACT public schools, and registered non-government schools. Students must attend as a school group with teacher supervision.

Student Workshops

Attending the Show with your students? The student workshops for secondary school students are back at the 2024 Easter Show, which workshops are available across all 6 school days.


In 2024 we will have All About Honey workshops and Bush Tucker workshops. These workshops are run by experts in their fields to create an educational and interactive experience that also helps meet various curriculum outcomes, such as Stage 4 Mandatory Technology and Stage 5 Agriculture and Food Technology.


The 2024 Food Technology workshops are $15 per student (in addition to their entry ticket) and are available to be booked in now! There are limited spots available to make sure your students don’t miss out!

Our expert presenters will guide your students through the process of honey production. This experience has been developed to ensure it meets curriculum requirements as they develop proficiency in their practical interactions with and decisions regarding food and a deep understanding of sustainable and ethical practices that support exceptional agricultural experiences.


In this 30-minute workshop, learn how the bees make honey and how different flowers affect the properties of the honey. Apply your new knowledge to judge the quality of our honey samples.

  • Taste: discover the flavours of honey
  • Repeat: sustainable and ethical practices in apiculture

Recommended for Stage 4 and 5 students studying Food Technology or Agriculture.

Bush to Bowl will be presenting a bushtucker/traditional food education experience for students. This workshop will be hands-on and interactive to enable students to develop a deeper understanding of the connection between traditional food sources, environmental management and First Nations culture.


Recommended for Stage 4 and 5 students studying Food Technology or Agriculture. 


Outcomes: FT5-3, FT4-4, FT5-4, AG4-3, AG5-3, AG4-5, AG5-5

Primary Preview Day

The Sydney Royal Easter Show 2024 is coming up very quickly and we have an exciting opportunity to share!


The RAS Education Team is hosting Primary School students for an EXCLUSIVE sneak peek at the Show for the first time since Covid!


Join us on a Paddock-to-Plate journey and gain VIP entrance for your classes into the Primary School Preview Day! With places only available for the first 750 Years 4, 5 & 6 students, make sure you plan your excursions early.


Students will enjoy hands-on activities in a round-robin of interesting, engaging and educational workshops. They will have the opportunity to learn about how food and fibre is produced in Australia using the latest and greatest technologies in the Woolworths Ag Discovery and Farmyard Nursery. 


Make sure to check out the RAS website for teaching resources, programs and pre and post excursions activities that promote science, history and geography skills.

Baconomics

Calling animal lovers, and future pig industry enthusiasts! Join us for an exciting afternoon of hands-on learning and live demonstrations at the 2024 Sydney Royal Easter Show.

When: Wednesday 20 March or Thursday 21

Where: Onsite at Sydney Showground during the Sydney Royal Easter Show bump-in.

Cost: $5 per student

Activities & Demonstrations include:

  • Weighing
  • Production
  • Industry Artificial Insemination

Who Should Attend:

  • Youth (12-18 years old)
  • Secondary students interested in learning about the pig industry

There are no official OOSH days at the 2024 show, as all days, excluding weekends and public holidays, are school days.
