An Australian Shepherd named Rock from New South Wales has been announced as the 2019 ADVANCE ™ Sydney Royal Dog Show 'Best in Show' at this year's Sydney Royal Easter Show (the Show).
During 10 days of competition, thousands of dogs competed in Conformation, Obedience, Agility and Sweepstake Competitions, with the best of the best chosen to compete in the final Best in Show.
Pitted against six other premier quality dogs it was Nine-year-old Rock, the Australian Shepherd, who claimed the top prize.
Adding to an impressive resume, the win will be Rock's 31st 'best dog in show' across 16 months of competition. Rock will now head into retirement with his biggest achievement to date.
'Rock' was exhibited by Miss West from New South Wales who says it's a great way to bow out of competition;
"It's a dream come true to win such a prestigious competition here at the Sydney Royal Easter Show," Ms West said.
ADVANCE™ Best in Show Judge, Davor Javor, has been judging around the world for 30 years and said there was very little between all final seven dogs, as they were exceptional examples of their breeds.
Thousands of dogs representing 170 breeds were exhibited at the Show to make it the nation's largest dog show and a consistent crowd pleaser.
As well as a showcase for excellence, the ADVANCE Sydney Royal Dog Show promotes public understanding of the place of domestic animals in our community.
