CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO SYDNEY SHOWGROUND

ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NSW ABN 69 793 644 351 (‘RAS’)

Business Names: SYDNEY SHOWGROUND and SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW enforce the following Conditions of Entry to Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, NSW 2127 (the ‘Showground’):

A. LIQUOR LICENCE

On Premises Licence: LIQO624006670
Liquor Licensee: James Farr

People seeking entry to Sydney Showground are advised that:

  1. They are entering a licensed area.
  2. Intoxicated persons will not be permitted to enter.
  3. Intoxicated persons will be removed from Sydney Showground.
  4. Alcoholic beverages or opened bottles must not be taken into or from Sydney Showground and are subject to immediate confiscation.
  5. Checking procedures will apply to prevent persons possessing liquor from entering.
  6. It is an offence for minors to purchase or consume alcohol. It is an offence to sell to or supply minors with alcohol. Persons supplying alcohol to minors will be reported to NSW Police.
  7. Penalties for breach of these conditions apply under the Liquor Act 2007.

B. RESTRICTED AND PROHIBITED ITEMS

The following restricted or prohibited items are not permitted into Sydney Showground and may be subject to immediate confiscation:

  1. Glass or breakable containers.
  2. Cans or metal containers.
  3. Alcoholic beverages and any other liquids as determined by the venue.
  4. Illicit drugs or paraphernalia including NANGS.
  5. Flares, fireworks, smoke bombs, or any other explosive device.
  6. Laser pointers.
  7. Knives or other dangerous weapons including potential missiles.
  8. Skateboards, scooters, rollerblades and bicycles.
  9. Large items including eskies and bags that cannot fit under seats.
  10. Backpacks and bags larger than A4 are not permitted for concerts, dance parties and festivals.
  11. Animals unless approved by the RAS or an approved assistance animal.
  12. Flags over 1m x 1m in size.
  13. Register rolls, shredded paper, or confetti.
  14. Commercial food purchased from external caterers, including recognised commercial food brands.
  15. Cameras and recording devices (for commercial purposes) including tripods.
  16. Unsealed vapes are not permitted at all music events.
  17. Unsealed cigarettes are not permitted at dance parties or festivals, or other events as determined by the venue.
  18. Other items as determined by the RAS that may cause injury or public nuisance.

For Stadium events, restricted items also include whistles, hooters, and horns.

Specific conditions may apply for some events regarding the entry of musical instruments including drums, political or offensive signage or logos including on clothing or other items deemed to be ambush marketing. Check your ticket and event conditions for further information.

C. GENERAL ENTRY CONDITIONS

For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all persons, the RAS advises that:

  1. Persons may be subject to screening for prohibited items.
  2. Persons causing a disturbance, acting in an anti-social manner, or refusing to comply with requests from the RAS will be ejected from Sydney Showground and may be banned for a certain time.
  3. Persons gaining unauthorised access to Sydney Showground and/or any of Sydney Showground’s specific areas may be liable for trespass and removed and/or banned from the Showground.
  4. Persons enter Sydney Showground at their own risk and must take proper care of all things they bring into Sydney Showground. The RAS is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property.
  5. Persons who are accompanied by minors, or are acting as a carer for another person, must maintain the supervision for the whole event.
  6. Persons entering Sydney Showground agree to be responsible for their own actions, and agree the RAS is not liable for any loss or damage, cost, expense, or consequential losses.
  7. Persons acknowledge that some activities are dangerous and will read signs and listen for warnings. Persons partaking in activities or viewing such activities do so at their own risk.
  8. Unauthorised sales or hawking of goods and services is not permitted.
  9. The RAS may refuse admission to or eject persons from Sydney Showground at its sole discretion.
  10. Persons entering Sydney Showground agree to the RAS Work Health and Safety Policy. Persons must obey all signs, notices and directions given by the RAS or security contractors.
  11. Smoking (including electrical cigarettes and vapes) is prohibited indoors and at all catering, public seating, and spectating areas of Sydney Showground, and where indicated by ‘No Smoking’ signage. Smoking is only permitted at designated smoking areas.
  12. Entry to Sydney Showground does not guarantee automatic entry to all events and activities at Sydney Showground during the period of entry. Additional entry conditions and requirements may apply to ticketed events or areas. Please check the ticket conditions from the seller or the event website for current information.
  13. Any ticket purchased to enable entry into any area or event at the Stadium cannot be exchanged or returned after purchase.
  14. Entry to Sydney Showground is subject to conditions imposed by Sydney Olympic Park Authority from time to time, please check the Sydney Olympic Park Authority website for more information.
  15. Parking is restricted to bays as designated by the RAS from time to time and vehicles must not block emergency egress doors or emergency vehicle access roads. Vehicles which overstay the designated times on the parking pass may be fines or other penalties.
  16. Access to the Showground is subject to these Conditions of Entry to Sydney Showground, and the General Regulations of the RAS. The most recent versions of these documents are available online at www.eastershow.com.au, and www.rasnsw.com.au and are subject to change.
  17. All accidents or emergencies are to be immediately reported to security on 9704 1020.

D. PHOTOGRAPHY & CCTV

It is not intended for amateur photographers to be restricted from taking photos around Sydney Showground, providing that:

a) the photographer is not causing annoyance or inconvenience to other patrons.
b) that the subject of the photo is not one detailed in the Summary Offences Act 1988 (NSW).
c) the subjects have given their consent (if under 18 then their parents consent); and
d) the photos are not to be sold for commercial gain.

The RAS conducts CCTV surveillance on Sydney Showground and complies with the Workplace Surveillance Act 2005. Body worn cameras and facial recognition cameras are in use. The RAS also has access to Sydney Olympic Park CCTV footage and vice versa.

A person entering Sydney Showground may be photographed, filmed, taped and/or subjected to monitoring by close circuit television and it is deemed that a person entering Sydney Showground consents to the RAS, or third parties appointed by the RAS, photographing, filming, or taping.

The RAS or third parties appointed by the RAS (such as Sponsors and Media Contractors) can broadcast, publish, license and use any photographs, film, recordings, or images without compensation to patrons attending the event. The RAS, third parties and anyone acquiring from them a right to use the material are not liable to the subject for its use in any way.

E. PRAMS AND STROLLERS

For the safety of patrons during an event, and in the case of an emergency:

  1. Prams and strollers can be stowed under seats provided they do not cause a trip hazard to other patrons moving between seats.
  2. Prams and strollers must not be left in aisles or other areas that impact on the safe movement of patrons.
  3. Prams and strollers that do not comply with the above may be left in a designated pram bay. Pram bays may be supervised or unsupervised. The RAS is not responsible for any damage, loss or theft of the pram or any personal property left in the pram bays.

F. BANNING NOTICE FOR BREACH OF THESE CONDITIONS

The RAS may take action to refuse entry to any person, or refuse re-entry to any person and may issue a Re-entry Prohibition Ban Notice for breach of these Conditions of Entry or breach of the Child-Safe Code of Conduct:

  1. A Re-entry Prohibition Ban Notice may be issued directly to the person at the time of the incident or may be sent to the person after the event.
  2. The length of the ban reflects the seriousness of the conduct and the risks posed to the RAS.
  3. Re-entry Prohibition Ban Notices are issued under the Inclosed Lands Protection Act 1901, under this Act criminal penalties apply for any unlawful re-entry onto the Showground and the RAS is permitted to apprehend offenders.

CHILD-SAFE CODE OF CONDUCT

The wellbeing of all children on the Showground is important to the RAS, whether the children and young people work, volunteer, exhibit or attend as visitors to the Showground. The RAS has set this Code of Conduct with the expectations for all people on the Showground:

I will:

  1. Treat children with respect and be a positive role model in my conduct with them.
  2. Communicate with the children in an age appropriate and realistic manner.
  3. Set clear boundaries about appropriate behaviour between myself and a child.
  4. Only have physical contact with a child in ways which are appropriate to my professional or agreed role and responsibilities.
  5. Be willing to listen and respond appropriately to a child’s views and concerns.
  6. Respond quickly, fairly and transparently to any complaints made by a child or related to a child.
  7. Report any complaints, incidents or suspicious circumstances for investigation to RAS Security on 02 9704 1020 or directly to the RAS’ HR Department on 02 9704 1111.

I will not:

  1. Subject a child to any form of corporal punishment, social isolation, immobilisation, sexual suggestion, offence or misconduct.
  2. Direct a child to perform in a sexually provocative or unsafe manner.
  3. Communicate with a child in ways that are likely to humiliate, frighten or distress the child.
  4. Use tobacco products or possess or be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs at any time while working with children.
  5. Develop any ‘special’ relationships with children that could be seen as grooming or favouritism such as the offering of gifts or special treatment.
  6. Do things of a personal nature that a child can do for themselves, such as using the bathrooms or changing clothes.

The RAS welcomes you to Sydney Showground and wishes you an enjoyable, entertaining, and educational day.

SYDNEY SHOWGROUND IS A UNIQUE PLACE

Sydney Showground is very different to other venues. It is a venue for any variety of Exhibitors and Promoters to show a wide range of products and services and to carry out all kinds of exhibitions and entertainment including functions, sporting, animal, social, theatrical, and musical events.

TAKE CARE

The RAS has a Work Health and Safety Policy in place and takes great effort and care to ensure that all invitees to Sydney Showground have a safe and enjoyable time.

There are at times, vehicles, crowds, temporary structures, building activity, and occasionally large animals in all kinds of environments and weather conditions. You may participate in events that potentially have some risk including carnival rides.

As you proceed around the grounds, take care to observe and follow all information or warning signs and any instructions that you may be given.

Take special care at all times to protect yourself and others against any loss or injury.
