Official Opening - Saturday 12 April

Her Excellency Professor Marie R Bashir AC CVO, the Governor of NSW, will officially open the 2014 Sydney Royal Easter Show in the Spotless Stadium at 5.10pm.

Heritage Day – Sunday 13 April

Heritage Day is all about celebrating our colonial past. A range of traditional and interactive fair challenges will take place on the Spotless Stadium from 2 - 4pm including egg and spoon racing, sack races, gumboot throwing and folk dancing.

The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Presentation - Sunday 13 April

Showcasing some of the finest young people in agriculture, The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Presentation will shine the spotlight on these future leaders. This year it will be held outside of Youth in Ag Day. 
As part of the final stage of judging for The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition, the finalists will be interviewed on stage by RAS General Manager of Agriculture, Murray Wilton, at the presentation. The winner, who will become an ambassador to promote the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the agricultural show movement across New South Wales, will be announced at the conclusion of the event.

Rural Achiever Public Speaking Showcase - Sunday 13 April

Showcasing some of the finest young people in agriculture, the RAS Rural Achiever Public Speaking Showcase will shine the spotlight on these future leaders. This year it will be held outside of Youth in Ag Day. 
The RAS Rural Achiever Public Speaking Showcase will see each of the eight aspiring agricultural leaders deliver a prepared speech on a given topic. The Rural Achiever Award, now in its 25th year, is a leadership program run by the RAS to develop future leaders and recognise those who are working hard to make a significant contribution to their local community and to rural Australia.

Excellence in Agriculture Day – Tuesday 15 April

Excellence in Agriculture Day will celebrate Australian agriculture and showcase the best in agricultural innovation and excellence at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. 
A highlight of the day will be the Parade of Champions that will honour and recognise the contribution of top exhibitors and contributors across all Sydney Royal competitions, in a special ceremony on the Spotless Stadium. Following the presentation will be the Grand Parade, showcasing the ‘best of the best’ in agricultural excellence.

Hot Topic Debate - Tuesday 15 April

“Is foreign ownership essential to Australia’s farming future?”
The RAS Hot Topic Debate, a highlight event of Excellence in Agriculture Day, has been held for the past three years at the Show and continues to gain momentum within the organisation and across Australia’s agriculture sector. 
The debate topic, which aims to simulate discussion about a key agricultural issue affecting the industry, will focus on the role of foreign ownership in Australian agriculture. The event will take place on the Cattle Lawns and be a free event to attend for the first time, encouraging show-goers to engage with this important topic.

Those attending the debate are invited to a complimentary afternoon tea to be held on the cattle lawns.

Seniors Days – Tues 15 & Wed 16 April

Supported by Seniors Card and Telstra.
Senior showgoers can trial the latest technology, pick up some freebies or simply put their feet up and have a cuppa at the new Seniors Hub.
The Hub will be a hive of activity throughout the 2014 Sydney Royal Easter Show, but also the focal point for Seniors Days on 15 and 16 April. 
Telstra and the NSW Department of Family and Community Services have come together to sponsor the event, which will also include special offers and relevant seniors’ information.
Senior showgoers can pick up a free promotional bag, enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, trial tablets and smart phones at the Telstra Tech Savvy stand, or relax in the chill-out area at the Hub.
There is also a photo competition that encourages Showgoers to submit old photos or take a ‘senior selfie’ at this year’s Show to have the chance to win an iPad, phone cards or mobile phones from Telstra.The Grand Prize includes airfares and accommodation for five nights for two adults and two children to Disneyland, Los Angeles.
Exclusive Seniors Days offers and Show highlights of interest include:
- Seniors can enjoy free carnival rides with a paying child or friend (excludes the Sling Shot).
- Judy Horton from Yates will present ‘Growing Vegies and Herbs in Small Places’ from 11am to 1pm on 15 April inside the Flower & Garden Pavilion.
- Present a Seniors’ Card at the Sydney Royal Florist Shop and receive a 10 per cent discount on fresh flowers.
- Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic District Exhibits. Visit the Western District Exhibit at 9.30am and pick up a ticket for one of the four daily tours. Numbers are limited.
- Take a walk down memory lane with the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW to see the heritage and trophy collection. No bookings required for regular sessions. The meeting point is inside the Heritage Gallery and guided tours are only available on Seniors Days.
- Technology reporter Stephen Fenech will present daily technology talks at the Tech Arena, covering topics such as curved televisions, smart watches, personal activity trackers and home innovation using Wi-Fi networks. 
- Find out about healthy eating options with daily cooking sessions at the Australian Women’s Weekly Theatre Kitchen inside the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome.
- Discover the Sydney Royal Poultry Show and learn about prize birds with Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Poultry Manager Kerry Pearce. Talks will be held at 10am and 1pm on 15 April.

Youth in Ag Day – Saturday 19 April

Youth in Ag Day will once again be celebrated at the Show, recognising the contribution young people make to agriculture in Australia. A highlight of the day will be the 2014 Australian Young Farmer Challenge heats and final, testing the skills and expertise of young farmers in a series of on-farm challenges.
Throughout the day, Youth in Ag Day Ambassadors will be onsite promoting youth involvement at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and within Australia’s agricultural industry, to engage with showgoers and raise the profile of young agriculturalists. 
The day will conclude with the popular ‘Catch up at the Royal’ networking event, which will be hosted by RAS Youth Group on the Skydeck in Spotless Stadium. This ticketed event attracts close to 250 guests and a percentage of the ticket sales will be donated to the RAS Foundation.

Young Farmer Challenge
The action-packed Young Farmer Challenge will return to the 2014 Show, pitting teams of four young farmers against each other in a race against the clock to complete a series of skills-based farming challenges. 
Tasks may include tractor driving, livestock handling, fencing, chainsaw handling and motorbike riding, and must be completed correctly and safely before moving on to the next challenge. 
The competitions are run separately in each state and culminate with the national title between the best-of-the-best from last year’s events. Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and NSW will battle it out on 18 April at 5pm in Spotless Stadium. The new season of the NSW Young Farmer Challenge will commence the following day on April 19.

Catch Up at The Royal
The signature event on Youth in Ag Day moved to an exciting new venue in 2013, with the Sky Deck offering the best seats in the house for all the live action on the Spotless Stadium, followed by fantastic live music throughout the night. RAS Youth Group will take over the Sky Deck once again this year.

Catch Up at The Royal supports the RAS Foundation who provide grants and scholarships to help rural Australians realise their potential through education, make a difference in their communities and achieve their ambitions. $5 from the purchase of each ticket will go towards creating opportunities for young people in rural areas through the RAS Foundation.

It’s the last, but definitely not the least, day of the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
