Poultry & Pigeon

Poultry competitions have been an integral part of the Sydney Royal Easter Show since at least 1858 and the Poultry & Pigeon section grows each year with new competitions and displays.

The School Meat Bird Pairs competition, open to schools around NSW, returns again. The competition aims to dispel the myth that hormones are used in the production of chicken meat and introduce students to a possible future in the poultry industry.

The 2014 Show will also see the introduction of an egg zone - providing a home for the School Egg Laying competition.

Feature breeds of the Show include Australorps, Australian Game, Australian Pit Game and Australian Langshan. This will be held in conjunction with a release of stamps in the form of a mini sheet from Australia Post. These will be overprinted with 2014 Sydney Royal Poultry Show - a once off collector’s item available from the Poultry Pavilion.
