Youth Stage

The Youth Stage at the 2008 Show will be showcasing the very best
young local talent and overseas acts
, including YouthRock bands and
special appearances from Beyond Empathy artists.

Krill
After a remarkable 2007, homegrown band Krill is maintaining their momentum, with 2008 shaping up to be another stellar year for the Queensland natives. Thanks to some savvy internet exposure with their
'Lady Vegemite’ video on Youtube, Krill is etched in the minds of music
lovers everywhere. They were a part of the 2008 Big Day Out line up and
have supported impressive acts including Hoodoo Gurus, Spiderbait
and The Living End.

With a debut album on the horizon, there’s no denying that Krill is
definitely going places. Be sure to catch their synth-infused college
rock music sounds at the Show.

The Hampdens
This Aussie band continues to win over crowds and critics with their ethereal performances and impressive tunes. For an act that started purely by accident, this trio has certainly stood the test of time. With lush sounds, reminiscent of Air, Kings of Convenience and New Order, The Hampdens boast an enviable list of tour locations and destinations from around the world, and have played with the likes of Little Birdy and Thirsty Merc. Follow their stellar sounds to the Big Top Amphitheatre for what is sure to be a great performance.

“Every now and then you’ve gotta put your name on the line, and right now
I’m predicting big things for this ridiculously good-looking Australian act.”
Forte Magazine

“The Hampdens are a new Perth band who immediately demand your
attention.”

Angela’s Dish
With a catalogue of three EPs under their belt and the long awaited debut
LP, ‘War On Time’, this brotherly song writing duo is on the brink of big
things in the music world. The band is hailed for its intense, endearing
chord progressions and memorable melodies. The new album is pure
rock and sure to impress the band’s already solid fan base. Come and see
Angela’s Dish live up to the hype!

The Vasco Era
These boys have been busy with an epic national tour for their album, ‘Oh
We Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside’ and they wouldn’t have it any
other way. Recorded last year in San Francisco, the album is a grinding,
frenetic, aural onslaught, brimming with hooks and laden with the band’s
unbridled live energy. After sharing stages with the likes of Gomez, Violent
Femmes, You Am I and Wolfmother, The Vasco Era are fast becoming
one of this country’s most exciting live bands so come and treat yourself to
some first class rock ‘n’ roll.

“A swaggering set of infectious, angular rock n roll.”
Rolling Stone

 “Complete and utter joy.”
Beat magazine

The stage will also welcome ZimboyZ and Tom Tom Club, the hottest
new acrobatic troupes to hit Australia. With high energy moves,
phenomenal stunts and pulsating drum beats, these acts are sure to
leave you amazed. Be sure to catch the Freestyle Trials as they dazzle
the audience with their daring thrills and skills.

YouthRock bands will be gracing the stage with performances from
2007 winners, the mighty Parabowla from Kempsey; 2006 winners,
the folk/rock band Benjalu hailing from Newcastle; and Sydney-siders, Absent, bringing their alternative and rocking sounds to the Youth Stage.

The Youth Stage is a free event, once inside the Show and runs every
day of the Show, except for 27, 29 & 31 March, between 5.30pm and
7.30pm in the Big Top Amphitheatre. For full program details please sign
