Food & Wine

The Sydney Royal Easter Show was once again the destination for some of the most delectable food and wine products in the country and, of course, the people who love them.

The Woolworths Fresh Food Dome came alive with an array of delights for Showgoers to taste and purchase. Over 50 stalls lined the aisles of this year’s Show, featuring treats ranging from Australian wines, mouthwatering confectionary right through to delicious spices and curries and all that’s in between.

The Food Lovers’ Walk was a great success, guiding visitors on a tour that was all about delivering some of the tastiest dishes straight to where they were needed most – their bellies! The walk included a trip past the District Exhibits, showcasing some of the finest produce from all over the state.

At the Women’s Weekly Taste of the Show Theatre Kitchen there was
never a dull moment, with leading chefs such as Lyndey Milan and Peter
Howard showing how it’s done, with handy tips and recipes along the way.

For those who fancy themselves as a bit of a wine or a coffee connoisseur, then the Good Drop Gallery was the place to be at the 2008 Show, with special guests including David Lipman from Beer and Brewers Magazine and Velluto Nero Coffee. Many visitors stopped in at Sweet Sessions on the Couch while they were there, to catch the latest news from all the top chefs.

The big question at the Food Farm this year was “Where does our food come from?”. All culinary questions were answered through interactive displays and classes on everything from making sausages to mastering the art of a perfect steak.

Sydney Royal also delighted hungry Showgoers this year, with Sydney
Royal award-winning foods
at a variety of venues. Jamison’s brought fine
dining to the Showground, with stellar views and gourmet meals, while the
Sydney Royal Garden Café
and Royal Grill served up delicious dinners to
eager visitors and provided them with a place to relax and have a chat.

As well as all the wonderful gourmet food and beverages at this year’s Show,
old favourites were not forgotten, with many happy Showgoers sampling
Dagwood Dogs, Fresh Lemonade, Cheese on a Stick and Corn on a Cob.
After all, what Sydney Royal Easter Show would be complete without them?
