Show food in 2008 provides a great balance of those once-a-year
indulgent treats, traditional Show favourites and health conscious
menus to suit all tastes. Part of the essence of every Show experience
is the tastes, sights and smells of a diverse range of delicious foodie
treats.
Fuel your engines with a dagwood dog or satisfy your sweet tooth with
some fairy floss but don’t miss out on the fine food outlets coming to
the Show in 2008. The Show offers variety, old favourites and great
value for money so definitely make food and dining a big part of your
Show experience.
Overlooking the Overflow and adding to the atmosphere of the grounds
is the Common Ground Café. Try the barramundi burger, or snack on
some nachos smothered in cheese and salsa. The unique flavours
and energy of the Common Ground Café make it a must for every
Showgoer.
Make your way to Orana Parade for an authentic Turkish feed at
Emmy’s Turkish Gozleme. Freshly made on-site, this pastry delight is
filled with your favourite fillings and cooked on a searing hot plate.
New to the culinary fun in 2008 is the live, on-site meat pie cooking
at the Petey Pie Bakery in the Food Farm, where you can watch the pies
being made behind a glass screen then snap them up straight away.
The process will examine the requirements of the wheat and beef
farmers while exploring the pastry margarine process and the baker
combining all ingredients. The Baking Industry Association of NSW
is proud to be involved and introducing Petey Pie, the national mascot
of the baking industry. Proceeds from the Petey Pie Bakery will go
towards scholarships and grants to further assist apprentices in the
industry. It is freshness at its best!
Nandos will be spicing things up this year, with their healthy and
flavoursome menu. Try a spicy chicken wrap or fill up on a zesty burger.
For something on the go, try the Substation where you can fill your
sandwich to the brim with condiments of your choosing. Warm the pit
of your stomach with a piping hot pizza from the Wood Fired Pizza Oven.
Delicious toppings, freshly made pizza dough and a traditional flavour
make the Wood Fired Pizza Oven impossible to resist.
Take your taste buds east with a visit to Yai Thai and experience authentic
Thai cuisine that will delight the palate. A seriously healthy menu of
traditional Thai favourites such as hokkien noodles and fresh stir-fries
are just a taste of what you will find at Yai Thai.
Give in to temptation at Sweet Events where you will be privileged enough
to try Sydney Royal Fine Food Show medal winning gelato. Stop by the
Country Women’s Association Café for a freshly baked scone or a home
made meal. Strictly for the sweet tooth, Waffle World will once again be
serving up a tempting range of fresh waffles with delightfully indulgent
toppings of strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate flakes and sumptuous
sauces.
Don’t miss Arizona’s steaks, seafood and saloon. Take a seat and soak
up the atmosphere of the Wild Wild West while sampling the new menu
which includes BBQ salmon steaks and Sydney rock oysters. Arizona’s is
fully licensed with local and imported beers and of course, margaritas.
It is definitely worth making the trip to the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome
to sample the delights of guest chefs and specialty stores. Not only will
your appetite be satisfied, you will also pick up some great tips from the
food industry’s best.
