The Man From Snowy River

The blockbuster live action drama that captured the hearts, minds and emotions of Sydney Royal Easter Show audiences is back with a little difference.

The blockbuster live action drama that captured the hearts, minds and emotions of Sydney Royal Easter Show audiences is back with a little difference.

The story faithfully follows Banjo Paterson's poems The Man From Snowy River and Clancy of the Overflow, with a few changes ensure the production delivers fresh surprises for anybody who might have seen it in 2016.

Stockmen, along with 100 animals, will bring the climatic chase and recapture of the colt from Old Regret to life in an electrifying performance where the pounding of galloping hooves will rattle Spotless Stadium to its core. Every great story ends with a kiss, and you’ll be caught up in the romance when the stirring piano chords of Jessica’s Theme echo around the arena.

Grand Parade

This iconic event has been taking place at the Show since 1907.

This iconic event has been taking place at the Show since 1907. Watch as the best of the best in Australian agriculture make their way around Spotless Stadium in a spectacular procession.

Three parades will showcase Sydney Royal Competition winners including animals, producers, champion woodchoppers, and future community leaders in a celebration of Australian agriculture.

The parade not to miss is at 1pm on 11 April. For the first time in more than 65 years, a Grand Parade will be held at lunchtime. This very special event will feature Champions of the RAS as well as 2017 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition finalists and RAS Rural Achiever Award recipients.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show Grand Parade is believed to be the first of its kind in the world. Originally, animals had paraded separately on different occasions, but after 1906 the idea of one grand parade, comprising all prize-winners, was developed. Since then, the concept has been copied by every major agricultural show in Australia and forms a defining part of the Australian agricultural show character.

During the 2017 Sydney Royal Easter Show the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) Sheep & Wool Committee will host a seminar presenting recent research findings.

Sydney University’s Faculty of Veterinary Science will report on their research in 3 separate areas: ovine footrot (which has led to a diagnostic test for footrot and treatment by vaccine); Johne’s disease; and internal sheep parasites.

These studies have been made possible by a philanthropic donation to Sydney University by RAS Honorary Vice President Peter Wrigley and family. Mr Wrigley was the founding Chairman of the Sheep & Wool Committee in 1975.
