The Cattle Show consists of competitions for Beef, Dairy, Purebred Steers and Trade Steers & Heifers. Each are judged on specific criteria, however, all sections seek to award animals based on their structure, yield, presentation, temperament and production.

Up to 30 breeds of beef cattle compete, attracting Exhibitors Australia-wide. Beef cattle are present 12-16 April.

Six breeds of dairy cattle recognised by the RAS compete in the Sydney Royal Dairy Cattle Competitions, attracting around 400 nominations. Dairy cattle are present 19-23 April.

The feature breed for 2019 is Angus - the most widespread and keenly sought after good-natured breed in the world.

The most prestigious awards in the Beef Cattle Competitions are the Hordern and Urquhart Trophies.

Highlight events include:

  • Beef Championships: 15 April from 12.00pm (on the Cattle Judging Lawn)

    • The Breeders Group Interbreed
    • The RAS Supreme Beef Interbreed Heifer
