Sydney Royal Competitions

Sydney Royal Competitions are the backbone of the Sydney Royal Easter Show. For months before the gates open at the Show, a dedicated, skilled and passionate team of coordinators and exhibitors start preparing for the best of the best in competition at the Show.

Judges are selected from all over the world, as specialists in their field for the rigorous task of awarding prizes in over 12,500 competition classes. Categories range from Arts and Crafts to Cattle, Sheep, Poultry Goats, Dogs and Horses to name a few.

These competitions attract the largest field of any agricultural show in the country. More than 33,000 entries are received and judging involves 14,300 animals and more than $750,000 is awarded in prize money – along with thousands of ribbons and medals.

Winning an award at these events is an indication of the very highest standard of endeavour and achievement, a proud moment for the winner. The competitions are a vital measure of success, a yardstick that helps to ensure that Australia’s agriculture remains at the leading edge of world’s best practice.
